Back to School Central
Welcome back, students!
Metro Schools reopens its doors to students on Monday, August 7. From immunizations to bus route information, this page will serve as a central location for parents to find everything related to the start of the 2017-18 school year.
enrollment Center summer hours
Our enrollment centers are open from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Monday-Friday during the summer.
To serve more parents outside of the regular work week, the Global Mall and Central Office enrollment center locations will be open every Saturday in July from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
For students who are new to Metro Schools, entering pre-school, pre-K or kindergarten, or entering seventh grade, it’s time to update their immunizations. This is really important. In fact, it’s so important that without proof of updated immunizations or a certified exemption form, your child will not be allowed to attend school. It’s a state law. You can visit any Metro Health Department Clinic or your family physician.
Children currently enrolled in a Tennessee school and entering the 7th grade must show proof of two new immunizations:
- Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (“Tdap”)
- Verification of immunity to varicella (2 doses or history of disease)
For information on immunization requirements, please call the Metro Health Department at 615-340-5667.
All students who attend their school of zone, and who live more than 1.25 miles from school (1.5 miles for high schools), are eligible for school bus transportation. Letters with your school bus number and bus stop are on the way! They are being mailed on July 26 so make sure to check your mailbox.
You can find information about your bus stop arrival and departure times by clicking here. When the link opens follow the step by step instructions. If you have difficulty contact the Family Information Center at (615) 259-INFO (4636), emailing FamilyInfo@mnps.org or using the chat feature in the bottom right corner of this website.
