Family Support

We offer a wide range of programs and services to ensure students are fully supported, in and out of the classroom. The Metro Schools coordinated approach to school health improves the health of students and their capacity to learn through the support of families, communities, and schools. Our school social workers, provide counseling services, coordinate support groups, act as family advocates with school personnel and connect families with community resources and services.

Family Resource Centers are committed to increasing the wellbeing of children and families with a coordinated and holistic approach to providing services and support. Each Family Resource Center is a partnership of health and social service providers, residents, schools, businesses and faith-based organizations, all working together to build on the strengths and address the needs of the neighborhood.

Community Achieves Initiative

We foster student success by offering needed resources and support for parents, students, and the community. Working with community partners, the schools offer programs focused on four key areas: College and Career Readiness, Family Engagement, Health and Wellness, and Social Services. H.E.R.O. Program

The H.E.R.O. program for families in transition, or experiencing homelessness, helps students and their families with resources and services no matter where they live.

Social Work

MNPS School Social Workers provide a critical link between home, school and community in helping students achieve academic success. All MNPS schools have assigned School Social Workers who work closely with school administrators, teachers and counselors to identify needs and provide additional support to students and families.

Our team of School Social Workers are professionally trained in working with students to address academic, social and emotional barriers, recognize the need for crisis intervention and provide assistance and resources to our MNPS families. To make a referral for Social Work Services for a student, please contact that student's school.

Please visit our Community and Social Services page for more information and to download a resource guide with services that are available in schools and in the community.
